Who We Are

Our Fairmount Elementary PTA

Whether you're brand-new to Fairmount or you've been part of our flock for years — welcome.

We're the parents, guardians, and staff who make the extras happen around here: the events, the classroom supplies, the garden, the teacher lunches, the celebrations your kids will remember.

All of it runs on volunteers. All of it is funded by our community. And there's no minimum commitment to be part of it — some families give an hour a year, some give an hour a week, and both matter. If you care about this school, you already belong here. 💙

What We Do

Every dollar we raise goes back into this school. Membership dues and fundraising do different jobs — here's where both land.

We fund learning. The Book Cart and early literacy support, classroom technology, field trips, the Learning Garden, and the Campbell-Deane Scholarship for a Fairmount alum — plus math tools and curricular supports our teachers ask for.
We fundraise for the big stuff. Our events and campaigns fund capital projects the school budget can't cover — a new playground, technology and security upgrades, shade structures, and picnic tables. These stay long after our kids move on.
We take care of our teachers and staff. Staff Appreciation Week, staff meals, a stocked staff fridge, annual staff t-shirts, and the teacher wishlist — where teachers tell us what their classrooms need, and we fill it. The little things that let them know we see how hard they work.
We bring families together. The Back to School Bash, our 5K and Fun Run, the Talent Show, Books with the Birds, and Fuel the Firebirds, our fall parent social — plus classroom parties and the 5th grade send-off.
We bring programs to Fairmount. After-school enrichments and Garden Club come to Fairmount because the PTA goes out and gets them — we find the providers, handle scheduling and sign-ups, and families pay per session.
We're good neighbors. For over fifty years, Fairmount students have shared the joy and wonder of the holidays with the residents of Mountain Vista Senior Living Community. We also support a sister school here in Jeffco. We'd love to do more for Golden — if you have an idea for how our students could show up for this community, tell us.
We advocate for kids. As a member unit of Jeffco PTA, Colorado PTA, and National PTA, we're part of the largest child advocacy association in the country.

Become a Member

Joining is the simplest way to back this school. Dues are modest, they support our programs here at Fairmount plus state and national advocacy, and they give you a vote on how our PTA runs.

And to be clear — being a member doesn't obligate you to volunteer for anything. Plenty of our members simply join, and that alone helps.

Come to a Meeting

Every Fairmount family is welcome at our PTA meetings — members and non-members alike. Members carry the vote, but anyone can come, listen, ask questions, and weigh in on what happens at our school. Come once to see what it's like. There's no commitment attached.

Can't make it? We post minutes after every meeting so you can catch up on anything you missed.

Meet the 2026–2027 Board

Our board is organized into an Executive Board of elected officers and an Ancillary Board of coordinators who lead our programs, events, and outreach.

A quick note on how our board works. Our board members don't run our programs and events — the volunteers do. Every program below is led by its own coordinator and committee, and the listed board member is their liaison: the person who brings their needs to the board, helps clear roadblocks, and ensures they have what they need to succeed.

Our Coordinators

Behind every program listed above is a parent or staff volunteer who makes it run — Book Cart, EduKit, the Garden, Teacher Appreciation, Fit Fest, the Talent Show, and a dozen more. Nearly sixty families pitch in across our teams, and they're the reason any of this happens.

A few of those roles are open right now, and we'd love to fill them.

Get Involved

Interested in an open role, or just want to pitch in where you can? We'd love to hear from you. No experience necessary — every one of these jobs comes with someone who's done it before and will show you the ropes.

Tell Us What You'd Love to See

The Firebird Wish Wall is where families share ideas for Fairmount — a new event, something you'd like to help with, or just what's working and what could be better. We read every one and answer honestly, including when something belongs to the school rather than the PTA.
